Back in January The Range, a.k.a electronic producer James Hinton, returned with new song "Bicameral." That track represented the first new Range material since 2016 and today comes news that a full album is due for release this summer. Mercury is the follow-up to Potential and is due on June 10 via Domino Records. New song "Ricercar" is on the album alongside "Bicameral." Check that out below.

Potential was made using samples of people singing on YouTube, not professionals but aspiring artists recording themselves and sharing their work online. Hinton continues this process on the new album with "Ricercar" made using a sample of a singer covering of Tamar Braxton's "My Man" on Instagram.

"At the time I wrote this song I was listening to a lot of rap from the 90s, specifically DJ Premier beats," Hinton said in a statement. "As such I was rapidly collecting breaks and had just stumbled upon the Chief Kamanawanalea break by the Turtles and found that if I reordered the sections I could make this kind of palindromic composite break that seemed to propel the song along.

"The lyrics are quite personal to me and are a good example of what I try to do in a lot of my songs. I tend to try to find a way to say something that I would never be able to say out loud. I think of my editing of lyrics as a pressure release."

To mark the release of Mercury, The Range will headline Brooklyn's Elsewhere Zone 1 on June 11.
