Joy for fans of misery; Black Mirror is returning to Netflix
Sources confirm plans are in place for a sixth season of the dystopian drama.
Black Mirror, the Netflix series creator Charlie Brooker once jokingly referred to as "What if phones but too much," is coming back for a new season. Variety reports that a sixth season of the anthology series is written with producers currently casting for episodes a source tells Variety are being treated as "individual films."
There had been doubt over the future of Black Mirror after Brooker and creative partner Annabel Jones left production company Endemol Shine to start their own Broke & Bones company in February 2020. However, Endemol Shine has since struck a deal with a third company, Banijay, to licence the show to Netflix.
Season 5 of the dystopian drama debuted in June 2019 and comprised of just three instalments. It featured appearances from Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Andrew Scott, Topher Grace and Miley Cyrus as pop star Ashley O.
