Lil Uzi Vert shares new song “Space Cadet,” switches to “they/them” pronouns
The rapper’s Instagram bio was updated with the pronoun change.
Lil Uzi Vert's had a busy weekend. On Saturday the rapper shared a new single called "Space Cadet," available exclusively to SoundCloud as of Monday afternoon. It's the first song from the Red & White EP, the prelude to the long-promised project P!nk Tape.
Uzi's been open for a while now about their efforts to tap back into the spirit of their career-making project LUV Is Rage, and "Space Cadet" is another valiant, convincing attempt without feeling too much like a throwback. Uzi's ear for beats is still as strong as ever, with Brandon Finessin, Bally, and ShaunGoBrazy turning in a psychedelic, swirling monster. Sonically, it feels like the logical next step after Eternal Atake, and the progress is exciting.
Even after dropping a new song, Uzi wasn't done making news: on Sunday, Uzi changed the pronouns on their Instagram profile to "they/them." They haven't expanded on that decision just yet, but it's already yielded at least one classic post from the Twitterverse:
