bbymutha drops new EP MUTHALEFIC3NT
Fly Anakin produces the new seven-track release.
Back in 2020, bbymutha announced her retirement from rap with her debut album Muthaland, one of the best albums of that year. It turned out to be more of a withdrawal from the limelight that comes with being a hotly tipped artist, and bbymutha has steadily released new songs, EPs, and appeared as a feature on other rappers' tracks. Her unothodox career moves have clearly worked for her, as we can hear on MUTHALEFIC3NT, her new seven-track EP and third installment in her Muthaleficent series.
On her second EP of the year after left4dead, bbymutha sounds energized as ever as she raps with a dungeon master's authority about her skills, sex, and superiority in the face of all her roadblocks. It's an engaging listen from start to finish thanks in no small part to the varied production from Fly Anakin, the Virginia rapper who's having a breakout year of his own with his debut album Frank. From the first notes of the starburst synths on "BLINK!" to "ITADORI"'s screwed-up psychedelic trap, there's a menace to the music even when bbymutha is begging for salvation. Listen below and buy it for $20 on Bandcamp.
