Internet radio station Worldwide FM to pause new broadcasts from next month
Founder and DJ Gilles Peterson says he is working on a solution to revive the station.
Online radio station Worldwide FM will stop broadcasting new shows with founder Gilles Peterson telling listeners to expect "a much more minimal service" from next month. The London-based station will keep its website and Mixcloud archive online with Peterson stating that he is working on a solution to the issues affecting the station.
"We're having to make certain changes at Worldwide FM, re-organising and re-evaluating the next phase and financing for the station," reads a statement shared on Monday. "We look forward to enjoying these next few weeks, celebrating our station and all that we have achieved so far so stay tuned in."
In a Twitter thread shared from his own personal account, Peterson added that: "It is with great sadness that I’ve had to make the decision to put the breaks on whilst I search for a solution to revive it, in the coming year." He also told follower to "watch out for a big event before the end of the year."

WWFM has had incredible backing from its supporters and listeners.
Brownswood Recordings boss and DJ Peterson started Worldwide FM in 2016. The experience of running the station during the pandemic was archived in Lockdown FM, published earlier this year.
