André Benjamin has all but formally retired from rap, popping up for the occasional feature verse and to tamp down on any expectation for a solo project. His other hustles are nothing to sneeze at, though: he's collaborated with fashion brands like Supreme and nurtured a very promising acting career, landing roles in films by Claire Denis (High Life) and Noah Baumbach (White Noise).
His next role is in Showing Up, a new comedy from A24 and Kelly Reichardt, the acclaimed director behind First Cow and Wendy & Lucy. It stars Reichardt's frequent collaborator and Academy Award-nominee Michelle Williams as a weary artist; her nerves appear to be tested in the trailer by Benjamin, who plays a fellow creative. The film's release date is listed as "coming soon." Watch above.
