03 Greedo returns with “Bacc Like I Never Left,” his first post-prison single
Produced by Bighead and Paris.
This January, 03 Greedo was released from prison after serving just under six years of a 20-year sentence on gun and drug charges. In that time, he released six tapes including projects with Kenny Beats (Netflix & Deal) and Travis Barker (Meet The Drummers), part of a 3,000 song archive Greedo claimed to have recorded prior to his incarceration. The halfway house he's confined to until the summer allows him to record music, and Greedo intends to drop 12 tapes before his next album. While Greedo's output certainly would have looked different had he never gone to prison, he's been able to consistently release music for years, and he doesn't seem intent on stopping.
Today, Greedo is officially back with his first post-prison single "Bacc Like I Never Left." Sliding on a gloomy, bouncing beat from Bighead and Paris, Greedo sounds like he's donned a silk-lined crown that's been in storage, his flow free from any trace of tension as he hits his inimitable mood. He's capable of an autotuned catchiness that few rappers are, and it shines on this track, spiking from the hook and outwards as Greedo takes stock of everything that's changed, and what hasn't. Specifically, that his style is still an essential one. Listen above.
