Róisín Murphy announces Hit Parade, an album “exploding with colour”
The Irish artist collaborated with producer DJ Koze on her sixth solo album.
Róisín Murphy has announced details of a new album. Hit Parade was produced by DJ Koze and will be released on September 8 via Ninja Tune. A new song from the album, “The Universe,” is streaming below.
In a statement shared with press, Murphy spoke about her collaboration with German producer Koze. “We worked remotely, in different countries sending tracks/ideas back and forth for several years,” she says. “I always have to approach a new collaboration with openness and a willingness to learn and never more so than with this.
“The studio in this case was imaginary, in the airspace between Hamburg and London,” she continues. “That meant we were both in a personal, private place when working on the songs. For me that brought out a more intimate approach to the songwriting, I told this album my secrets. For Koze it meant total freedom and absolute focus without the distraction of my presence. He too took a deep dive into himself and I believe that’s why the music is so vibrant and alive. It is just exploding with colour!”
Hit Parade also features the previously released single “CooCool.” The album is the follow-up to 2020’s Róisín Machine. Murphy will play two headline shows shortly after the album’s release date, headlining New York City’s Terminal 5 on September 27 and The Wiltern in Los Angeles on the 29th. She will also appear at Portola Festival in San Francisco on October 1.
