Harry Styles has become the latest pop star to be hit by something thrown towards the stage by an audience member. The singer was performing in Vienna, Austria on Saturday (July 8) when someone in the Ernst Happel Stadion aimed an unknown object in his direction. In a video shared from the concert, Styles can be seen holding his face in pain after being hit.
Styles joins an increasingly long line of artists who have been hit by items thrown in their direction by fans. Last month, Bebe Rexha required stitches in a wound to her eye after a concertgoer threw his phone at her, hitting her in the head. A man, Nicolas Malvagna, was arrested following the New York show at told the Manhattan District Attorney’s office that he “was trying to see if I could hit her with the phone at the end of the show because it would be funny.”
Meanwhile, Ava Max and Kelsea Ballerini were slapped and hit with bracelets during their respective live performances. At the other end of the scale, Pink was handed both a wheel of cheese and someone's ashes during a pair of shows in London.
Adele spoke about the trend during a recent show in Las Vegas, jokingly threatening to kill anyone who tried to pull a similar move on her.
