On last year's Running In Waves EP, London-based R&B singer George Riley outlined her boundaries and desires over a set of beats from producer Vegyn that straddled the line between future and nostalgia. If that project was about chasing the simple things (“good guys, nice food, happy weed and Camper shoes” as she sang on "Time"), then her latest release "Elixir" is about how it feels to have them in her grasp. Produced by Channel Tres/Yaeji collaborator Nick Sylvester, the track rides a thick house bassline, giving Riley space to sing about the intoxicating feel of a new connection from beneath the club lights. "Don't take it away baby, I could die" she sings melodramatically, losing control as the feelings overwhelm her.
"Elixir" is a song built to excite and will appear on her upcoming EP, Un/limited Love. It's Riley's first release on her new label, Ninja Tune, and is due out on November 10. Exciting in its own right is her list of collaborators for the project, which includes Hudson Mohawke, John FM, Loraine James, and Actress.
