In 2019, Peezy was finally beginning to gain recognition for the years he spent making Michigan rap a national force. Unfortunately, as this valuable momentum began to build, he was forced to serve 18 months in jail on RICO charges. He picked up right where he left off upon his release, though, sharing great projects like Free Rio, Only Built 4 Diamond Links, and Champaign, a collab with Yg Teck.
With a knack for vivid storytelling and a signature flow — deadpan, yet brimming with emotion — Peezy has the creative spark to fuel his prolific nature. His latest full-length, GHETTO, is out today (October 10), and it’s perhaps his biggest play for broader recognition yet. Alongside features from fellow Michigan rappers like Babyface Ray and Babytron, you’ll hear verses from Larry June and Key Glock, as well as crooning from Ty Dolla $ign. Listen below.
