An Elon Musk biopic is in development at A24, Variety reports, with The Whale and Mother! director Darren Aronofsky due to helm the movie.
Development of the movie is in its earliest stages but Variety states that A24 won the rights to Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of the Twitter owner at auction with the book providing the basis for the script. Isaacson's Elon Musk was published in September and included many revelations about Musk, such as him and former partner Grimes having welcomed a third child together, named Techno Maximus.
Last month it was reported that A24 was looking to develop increasingly commercial titles, having made its name with indie movies such such as Midsommar and Uncut Gems. It was reported that the studio was looking at action films and existing IP, such as biographies of tech moguls, as part of its new strategy.
In 2022 the Manhattan-based equity firm Stripes paid $225 million for less than 10 percent of A24, putting the studio’s overall valuation in the ballpark of $2.5 billion.
