MGMT have shared a new song titled "Bubblegum Dog." The song comes with a video in which the band pays loving homage to the grunge era, including a gunge-filled nod to Nirvana's iconic MTV Unplugged performance. Check it out below.
The "Bubblegum" dog video was directed by Julia Vickerman and The Best Show co-host Tom Scharpling. In a statement they said they saw the video as "an opportunity to combine the charming, DIY, surreal, cardboard craft aesthetic of shows like Yo Gabba Gabba and The Mighty Boosh with these ultra-serious grunge videos we grew up watching on MTV – all that heavy, brooding angst smashed up against absurd childlike fun."
"Bubblegum Dog" will appear on MGMT's upcoming album Loss Of Life, due for release on February 23 next year. Last month the band shared the lead single "Mother Nature."
Loss Of Life is MGMT's first album since 2018's Little Dark Age and features a guest appearance from Christine and The Queens.
