Warner Bros. Pictures has debuted the first look at Furiosa, the long-awaited Mad Max: Fury Road prequel. The 2024 movie is directed by George Miller and focuses on the journey of Imperator Furiosa (played by Anya Taylor-Joy).
Viewers first met Furiosa in 2015's Fury Road, with Charlize Theron playing the role. Furiosa, per the trailer, is set "45 years after the collapse, a young Furiosa is taken from her family. She will devote the rest of her life to finding her way home. This is her odyssey."
The trailer premiered at XXCP, Brazil’s Comic-Con, on Thursday, according to Variety. In addition to Taylor-Joy, the movie also features Chris Hemsworth as Dementos, the man who takes care of Furiosa on her quest to return home.
Furiosa is set to premiere in theaters on May 24, 2024. The cast also includes Tom Burke, Nathan Jones, Angus Sampson, and Alyla Browne, among others.
