Love Lies Bleeding is the new movie from director Rose Glass, whose 2019 debut Saint Maude was a critically acclaimed psychological horror set in the North of England. Glass is changing things up for her next movie, though, and diving deep into the intersection of bodybuilding and crime.
Kristen Stewart stars in the A24 movie alongside Katy O’Brian with Stewart's gym staff member becoming enamored with the impressively built character played by O'Brian. There's a clear connection between the pair but their time together is far from plain sailing. No surprises for a movie with the tag line, "Revenge gets ripped."
The official synopsis for Love Lies Bleeding reads: "An electric new love story; reclusive gym manager Lou (Stewart) falls hard for Jackie (O' Brian), an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family."
Love Lies Bleeding also stars Dave Franco and Ed Harris and will be in theaters from March 8 next year. Check out the trailer below.
