Big Moochie Grape shares first-day-out track “Wake Em Up”
The Memphis rapper recorded the song last week hours after his release from jail, and dropped it Tuesday as a “From The Block” freestyle.
Big Moochie Grape has shared a new song called “Wake Em Up.” According to a representative of the Memphis MC, he recorded the track last Wednesday (January 17), the night of his release from the correctional facility where he’d been incarcerated for 14 months following a parole violation he’d incurred after being let out from a previous jail stint stemming from a gun charge.
“Wake Em Up” finds Big Moochie Grape back in pre-prison form, delivering relentless bars over a bare-bones beat. The song will be included on the Paper Route Empire signee’s next album, Eat or Get Ate 2 (a sequel to the 2020 project that preceded his 2022 LP East Haiti Baby and its 2023 extended edition, East Haiti Baby: Incarcerated), coming later this winter. For now, though, it’s only available in video form, released as part of 4 Shooters Only’s “From The Block” series.
