Vampire Weekend share two new songs, announce tour dates
“Capricorn” and “Gen-X Cops” will appear on the band’s upcoming album Only God Was Above Us.
Vampire Weekend has released two songs, titled "Capricorn" and "Gen-X Cops," taken from their upcoming album. Only God Was Above Us will be released on April 5 and was announced earlier this week.
In addition to the new music, Vampire Weekend will be going on tour starting in June. The run of shows includes two nights at Madison Square Garden in New York. See below for the full schedule.
The Only God Was Above Us announcement came after the band teased the album with a short video clip, a website update complete with a phone number to text, and a photograph taken by Steven Siegel of a junked New Jersey subway train.
Vampire Weekend released their fourth album, Father of the Bride, in 2019. The new album is "inspired and haunted by 20th century New York City" and was recorded in Manhattan, Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo. The band's Ezra Koenig produced the album alongside Ariel Rechtshaid, with mixing handled by Dave Fridmann and mastering by Emily Lazar.
