Mac Miller’s estate confirm 2025 release date for posthumous album Balloonerism
The project, which dates back to 2014, will be released in Janaury.
Having first teased the news at last weekend's Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, Mac Miller's estate have confirmed details of a new album by the late rapper. Balloonerism will be released on January 17, 2025 via Warner, A trailer for the album can be seen below.
Fans of Miller have long speculated about the possibility of Balloonerism seeing an official release, with the rapper believed to have worked on the project around the time he released the albums Watching Movies With the Sound Off, Delusional Thomas, Faces, and GO:OD AM between 2013-2015.
In a statement accompanying news of the upcoming release, Miller's family said: "Many of Malcolm’s fans are aware of Balloonerism, a full-length album that Malcolm created around the time of the release of Faces in 2014. It is a project that was of great importance to Malcolm—to the extent that he commissioned artwork for it and discussions concerning when it should be released were had regularly, though ultimately GO:OD AM and subsequent albums ended up taking precedence.
"We believe the project showcases both the breadth of his musical talents and fearlessness as an artist. Given that unofficial versions of the album have circulated online for years and that releasing Balloonerism was something that Malcolm frequently expressed being important to him, we felt it most appropriate to present an official version of the project to the world."
Miller died from an accidental overdose in 2018. In 2020 his estate released the posthumous album Circles, a companion to his final album, Swimming.
