Rumors of a Frank Ocean movie have been swirling around Hollywood for years now but, like so many things involving Ocean and his work, it has never been clear quite clear how long we would have to wait to hear anything concrete.
That changed on Thursday with Variety reporting that Ocean's directorial debut has begun shooting in Mexico City. Not only that, but British actor David Jonsson is said to have secured the lead role. You might know Jonsson from the early seasons of HBO's Industry or his movie roles in Rye Lane and Alien: Romulus.
Ocean's film is currently untitled, and plot details remain under wraps. Last year it was reported that Taylor Russell could star in the movie, with A24 rumored to be partnering with Ocean.
Blonde, Ocean's last studio album, was released in 2016. In 2023 headlined the first weekend of Coachella before pulling out of the second through injury.
