If you happened to see David Vandervelde live after his last album The Moonstation House Band, you might've been right to believe that he would go off in a raunchier, glammier direction on his next album because dude simply shredded the elfin pop of his recordings. And yet here we are, just a year or so later, he is releasing said next album, and the first song from it is like folk-trance. It is like a supergroup of pillows. It is like Christine McVie brainwashed him and Jeff Lynne taught him how to multi-track. It is, ready?, a lot like summer. We know we say that a lot, but summer is long and there is a need for many, many songs that are appropriate.
