Describing your (debut?) EP as “too poor to master… but who cares anyway,” if the songs are right, is the perfect way to introduce SoundCloud tearjerkers. The website seems so eager for you to upload tracks, it’s easy to imagine a lapse in self-censorship, a quick click and everything’s out there, their little SoundCloud logo an orange raincloud hovering forever over Brown Bread’s name. Hearing “Candy Apple” that way, there’s an emotional freshness, like feelings that just snuck through. Then at 1:05, somehow the “der” in her “tender” gets duplicated in this goofy voice, for a half-second cracking the major bummer that has been building. It’s funny and you feel like you're in on something, like you're closer to the start of thought to thing, and you're glad she didn’t iron out the wrinkles. Check below, you can stream the whole EP.
