Diplo Releases ‘F10rida’ Box Set As BitTorrent Bundle
The producer’s decade-old first album gets a 2014 upgrade.
A few months after their surprise release of Thom Yorke's latest, BitTorrent has teamed with superstar producer Diplo to release a digital "box set" of his debut album, Florida. In addition to the original 11 funky, sample-filled songs—which come across as borderline impressionistic compared to his glossy recent work—the $5 bundle features an unreleased remix from the 10-year-old sessions, song stems, and some Diplo-curated artwork. The re-release also marks the debut of BiTorrent's new paygate application, which is officially open to the public: publishers, independent artists, anyone. "The difference between BitTorrent and every other direct-to-fan service is [that] we have a truly global audience that we can put Bundles in front of," BitTorrent's CCO Matt Mason told The FADER back in September. "We don't want to replace labels, the idea is that BitTorrent bundles should be a solution for labels."
