Earlier this week, Solange Knowles announced her return with A Seat at the Table, her first material since 2012's True EP and her first full-length solo album in eight years. In the past few years, Solange has launched her Saint Heron website and Saint Records label, and, though she has remained relatively quiet on the music front, she has been working on this album for over four years, as she wrote on Twitter.
"True" was meant 2 provoke joy & to challenge what we know as Pop,' Solange wrote in response to a fan's question about the relationship between the two projects earlier this evening. "#Aseatatthetable is meant to provoke healing & journey of self empowerment." The album features an extremely impressive collection of guests, including Sampha, Dev Hynes, Tweet, Kelela, and more, as well as interludes from No Limit solider Master P.
