This weekend, Solange was in Washington D.C. to perform at an "alternative" inauguration event called the Peace Ball alongside Angela Davis, Esperanza Spalding, and more. During her stay in the nation's capital, the singer decided to support local black-owned bookstore and purchase 250 books for her D.C. fans that showed up.
Yesterday, a video surfaced of Solange speaking at Sankofa Video Books & Cafe, a bookstore located near Howard University's campus. The singer had some words of wisdom and hope for the attendees in light of Trump's inauguration.
"Remember, through the midst of it all, to always look upward and forward," Solange reminded her fans. "And that we have the power in this room, in this space, and amongst each other. Seeing all you guys here is confirmation. It’s really confirmation for me because I needed to see that and I needed to know that the work we are all doing counts." View the clip below.
