North Carolina-born, L.A.-based R&B singer PJ has spent the past few weeks releasing covers of her favorite songs — including Roddy Ricch’s “High Fashion" and Doja Cat’s “Say So" — for her Quarantine Tapes series. Now she's turning her attention to original tracks with her new EP, Waiting For Paris, out this morning via Atlantic Records. Alongside the release, PJ is premiering the video for "Privately," the project's slinky and sexually charged intro.
“I'm excited for people to see this video because it's a different type of look for me," PJ wrote in an email to The FADER. "We shot it in the quarantine — we wanted it to feel like me and my bae had this whole empty city to ourselves. It's been a minute since I put a project out. But it's the same PJ. I'm just being honest about how I feel, and I'm okay with being an underdog. I embrace it fully. And this is just a start to what's ahead. I still have an album coming.”
