If anything, one man band Spectrals is making more traditional rock than 98% of bands out there. Doing the whole blues rock riff thing, throwing in some tropical high notes and singing with just enough grit that you can almost see teenagers of the ’50s collectively nodding their heads and saying, "if this is where rock music is going, we're cool with that." Which is not to say this is derivative—instead dude uses those classic rock ideas to make something both woozily melancholic and dingy, like spinning a worn out 45 until it turns to dust.
