Today, Taylor Swift got a new gig: The mega-pop star has been named the Big Apple's official Global Welcome Ambassador. First day on the job and she's already rolled out a series of videos on their tourism website to remind the world how great NYC is. Whether she's teaching us what a bodega is, breaking down locals-only lexicon, or reassuring us that despite what we've heard, New York is actually a hospitable place ("It's easy to get around...people will help you. Trust me I've done it."), there's no doubting Swift's enthusiasm.
The internet also greeted the news with enthusiasm, but not quite of the kind the tourist board were probably after:
Can't believe Taylor Swift is the first corny person to move to New York

The Statue of Liberty is now holding a Taylor Swift thinkpiece.

If Taylor Swift ever even set foot in a bodega ever I will eat a shoe.

But it's important to give credit where credit is due:
@DVSblast Oh wow, Taylor Swift buys loosies outside the Pine Street welfare office from the same guy as me!
