Zayn Malik Cancels Concert After Anxiety Attack
The singer was due to perform at a music festival in the U.K.
Though it's been nearly three months since he released his debut album, Mind of Mind, former One Direction member Zayn Malik has yet to announce a tour, opting instead to do one-off shows. Today, the 22-year-old singer was set to perform at the Capital FM's Summertime Ball, but was forced to cancel after revealing an ongoing struggle with anxiety.
"Unfortunately, my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the best of me," Malik wrote in an Instagram post. "With the magnitude of the event, I have suffered the worst anxiety of my life."
"I know those who suffer from anxiety will understand," Malik concluded after apologizing to fans. "And I hope those who don't can empathize with my situation."
The singer's next performance is scheduled on October 7 when he's due to perform at The Autism Rocks Arena in Dubai. Read Malik's full statement below.
