Chance The Rapper Reveals The Inspiration For His Muhammad Ali Tribute Song
Chance says the new song doesn’t have a name yet.
Last night, Chance The Rapper performed a powerful new song to pay tribute to Muhammad Ali at the ESPY Awards. The Chicago rapper was joined by frequent collaborators Jamila Woods, Donnie Trumpet, and Peter Cottontale for the performance. Chance further demonstrates his vocal abilities during the performance of the as-yet-unnamed song, building on sounds explored in Coloring Book as well as past projects.
Chance took to Twitter today to chat a little bit with fans about the song and performance, mentioning that he wrote the track a few days before. He also shared a clip of a Muhammad Ali interview, which Chance said was the inspiration for the song. Chance asked fans to think titles for the tribute song, and he appeared to like "God And Me" the best.
