Prince memoir The Beautiful Ones due in October
The book was first announced in 2016, with Prince writing 50 pages prior to his death.
Prince memoir The Beautiful Ones will be published this October by Random House. An October 29 release date was confirmed in a press release sent on Monday alongside other details of the memoir, which was first announced in 2016 prior to Prince's death.
The Beautiful Ones features an introduction by writer Dan Piepenbring, and is described by Random House as “the deeply personal account of how Prince Rogers Nelson became the Prince we know: the real-time story of a kid absorbing the world around him and creating a persona, an artistic vision, and a life, before the hits and the fame that would come to define him.”
The memoir will feature never-before-seen photos, original scrapbooks and hand-written lyric sheets. The early pages of the memoir Prince began writing before his death will also feature. The book's cover can be seen below.
Since Prince's death in 2016 his estate has announced a series of legacy-maintaining moves, including the arrival of rare music videos on YouTube. In addition to a series of planned posthumous reissues, an Ava DuVernay-directed docuseries is in the works, as is a narrative film including many of his biggest hits.
