Last week Lana Del Rey announced that she’d be releasing a cover of, of all things, Californian ska band Sublime’s track “Doin’ Time.” No, that news item you saw really wasn’t a dream: today, Lana Del Rey has really released her Sublime cover. Lana’s got such a consistent aesthetic that it barely sounds like a Sublime cover; it could have easily fit onto her last record, Lust For Life. Hell, slap an A$AP Rocky feature on there and it could have been a lead single.
On Instagram, Lana said the track was for the upcoming documentary on Sublime, meaning that this probably won’t appear on her long-awaited new record Norman Fucking Rockwell. Either way, it’s always nice to get new music from Lana. Listen above.
