Rihanna’s ANTI is the first album by a black woman to spend 200 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart
The milestone comes amid feverish anticipation for R9.
As pointed out by the Chart Data twitter account, this week marks the 200th week on the Billboard 200 albums chart for Rihanna’s most recent studio record ANTI. In reaching its 200th week on the chart, ANTI becomes the first album by a black woman to reach such a milestone. Released in January 2016, ANTI represented a marked left-turn for Rihanna, featuring a woozy, low-key sound not usually showcased by the prolific pop star; it featured the No. 1-charting Drake collaboration “Work,” as well as a cover of Tame Impala’s “New Person, Same Old Mistakes.”
This milestone comes amid feverish anticipation for Rihanna's as-yet unannounced ninth record, which has been teased in an interview with American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson. Despite the delay in music, Rihanna has kept busy — earlier this year she released a coffee table book with Phaidon, held her first Savage X Fenty fashion show, and trolled fans with the release of a t-shirt bearing the slogan 'NO MORE MUSIC.'
