On Wednesday night (April 12), boygenius soft-launched their highly anticipated 2023 tour with a “warmup show” at The Fox Theater in Pomona, California. At the show — for which tickets were sold starting at $20 — the supertrio of Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker, and Phoebe Bridgers performed every song from their recently released debut album, the record. Though they’d debuted two of the project’s tracks at a benefit concert for Tibet House at New York City’s Carnegie Hall, and another during a surprise set at the Austin-Bergstrom International airport baggage claim in the midst of SXSW 2023, last night’s show marked the first time the record’s nine remaining cuts were performed live. The band will play both Saturdays of Coachella this month before kicking off their full-tilt U.S. tour in June.
