Tinashe has been relatively since her rebirth as an independent artist with 2021’s 333 and its subsequent deluxe edition in early 2022. Since then, she’s featured on tracks by Calvin Harris, Shygirl, and others, but today (July 21) marks her first solo single in well over a year.
“Talk To Me Nice” is a sultry R&B track with a beat that centers trap drums and a woozy, future-funk synth. “Mix up my days, got me in a daze / Stuck in a phase, so talk to me nice / Come get me laid, sing me lullabies / Come drive me craze ‘fore I catch a flight,” she monotones on the hook, a quantized chorus of “talk”s tapping away in the background. In the verses, however, she allows her voice to flutter and croon, flexing the versatility of her vocal chords.
