Lecx Stacy is best known as a producer, acclaimed for his work with Jean Dawson, Nosaj Thing, Isabella Lovestory, A. G. Cook, and Eartheater, among others. He’s also a formidable artist in his own right, fashioning sinister tunes as rooted in emo as in the avant-garde.
Today (October 4), Stacy shares a new, eight-song EP called A GLINT IN THE HOLOCENE! and premieres a video for its fifth track, “Are We Awake” (feat. Eartheater) with The FADER. The project features guest appearances from Cook and Clams Casino as well.
“Are We Awake” starts off as a plodding, existential, acoustic jam but slowly develops into something altogether stranger. By the time Eartheater enters, she’s accompanied by unsettling strings, dissonant banjo, and staticky, menacing percussion.
The visuals for “Are We Awake,” directed by Actual Objects, follows a shadowy figure through a series of desolate horrorscapes. Set to the music, however, the images take on a new, oddly peaceful significance. Watch the video and stream A GLINT IN THE HOLOCENE! in full below.
