The Ally Coalition held its ninth annual benefit Talent Show Tuesday night (December 19) in New York, hosting performances by St. Vincent, Bartees Strange, Bleachers, Clairo, and more. Per a press release, this year’s event raised more than $430,000 for unhoused LGBTQ+ youth across the United States. Other musical guests included Jason Isbell, Claud, Red Hearse, and Andrew Dost.
Curated by siblings Jack and Rachel Antonoff, the event featured Jack’s band Bleachers in collaboration with several of the night’s featured artists, including Bartees Strange, and Clairo for a rendition of the latter artist’s 2021 track “Blouse.” Mr. Antonoff also accompanied St. Vincent, reprising her MASSEDUCTION cut “New York.” Another notable collaboration came when Bartees Strange brought his mother on stage for an acoustic cover of “Summertime” from Porgy and Bess, showing off her remarkable pipes.
