Isabella Lovestory drops new album Amor Hardcore
Listen to the Honduran-born, Montreal-based multi-hyphenate’s latest.
Isabella Lovestory has shared a new album titled Amor Hardcore, the latest galaxy in her ever-expanding sonic universe. The Honduran-born, Montreal-based pop innovator has been jet-setting lately — opening for a Chelsea Manning DJ set in Brooklyn before popping over to the west coast to play Pasadena’s new This Ain’t No Picnic festival — but today’s project is evidence of a singular focus on pushing her sound forward. Over the course of 11 tracks, she expands on the club-ready perreo pop of her past to create something altogether more electrifying.
“Amor Hardcore is a colorful neon rollercoaster, a journey exploring expressions of love full of contrasting lights, sounds and rhythms,” Lovestory says of her new record. “The album is a luxurious hotel, where each floor is a different song. Amor is sweetness and Hardcore is aggression; beauty vs. pain, which combined to create this album. Sweet melodies fused with abrasive sounds. Lyrically each song has an obsessive yet carefree, dark, romantic theme. This album is a kiss that feels like a balloon popping at the same time a firework explodes, or a cherry bursting in your mouth. Amor Hardcore is my first full length album, where I experiment with and expand my sound with no limitations or rules.”
